Sometimes, the light at the end of the tunnel is a good thing. But, sometimes, it can just be a runaway train about to flatten you. Such is apparently the case here, based off the press release.
My optimism level for this episode plunged when I saw this opening sentence:
"Phil and Claire are feeling a little snubbed by their kids when Alex
intentionally gives them the wrong college move in date to avoid making
it a big deal..."
This makes it look like "American Skyper" all over again, with a big moment in Alex's life not really being about Alex, but someone else (mostly Claire - Phil will probably feel more snubbed by Luke). It's doubly disappointing given the episode's title hinted at big things for Alex (at least that didn't change as I worried it might). I suppose it's still possible that Alex will have more of a role than she did in last season's finale - I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
Also, is her wanting to keep this low-keyed an extension of her fears about being smart enough for CalTech?
One thing we probably won't see is her new roommate - the guest star list mentioned nothing about anyone playing Alaina's role.
And probably no Phil's-osophy (version 2.0) this time either.
