“Thanksgiving Jamboree” is tonight – will Alex's story with Dwight (the football player living with Cam and Mitch) score a touchdown, or does the show fumble the ball (as they often do with Alex)?
Anticipation Level: Medium. I still think we're looking at a typical misunderstanding story tonight (i.e. what Cam thinks is happening between Alex and Dwight is really something else - maybe she's just been tutoring him with her extra spare time and he's thanking her) so I'm not as excited about it as you'd think. On the other hand, with a repeat coming up next week1 and a very lackluster (and maybe Alex-less) episode after that, I'm sort of in “take what I can get” mode.
Emotional Moment Potential: Low to Medium.2 It's low if I'm right about this being a misunderstanding. However, if Alex and Dwight really are trying to romantically connect, then there is a real chance for emotion, especially if Cam tries to break them up (and boy am I going to have a lot to say if that happens).
Game Changing Potential: Low to Medium. Similarly, this only goes up if they really are getting together – while Dwight is about the same age as Reuben, at least he's not a creep so I could see Alex taking an interest in him (still probably too young but at least he's athletic) – a new guy in Alex's life could really stir things up for her. But again, even though I'd like to see it, I really think tonight's a one-off.
Are There Any Other Questions? There is a family football game going on as part of the jamboree. Will Alex be on the winning side? Probably not.
Kick-off is in about 17 hours – are you ready for some Alex?
1 Last season's “The Verdict”, with the still inexplicable story of Claire taking Alex (and Haley) to “Take Your Daughter To Work Day”. Also, it looks like they'll be repeating tonight's episode on Thanksgiving night at 10:00.
2 Actually, there is a potential scene in this episode that has nothing to do with Alex which could make me emotional, as Jay and Joe may have a special bonding moment based off the promo photos. I tend to tear up during touching father/son moments.
