But, just in case, and because I still want to keep one sliver of hope open given the dreary prospects for the two episodes to follow:
Upside:
- It turns out ABC simply "buried the lead", and Alex's story gets its fair share of attention.
- Her story gets treated seriously (because it's an important moment in her life) - it probably would be more upbeat than her therapy session from last year, but hopefully not played just for laughs. I'm not expecting a big emotional moment this time but I'll take it if it happens.
- Like last year, there's little involvement from other family members - i.e. in her story Alex gets the spotlight mostly to herself.
- Her story barely gets any mention at all, with the absolute worst case being it ends very early in the episode (i.e. "Baby On Board" all over again).
- The interview ends up being just a comedy skit.
- The interview takes place at home, and not somewhere else, allowing for family antics to drag it down.
- The story ends up being more about the interviewer than about Alex.
- The story somehow ends with Alex being accepted into the college immediately (highly unlikely - I never went through one of these interviews myself but I doubt that ever happens unlike once in a while with an "on the spot" offer being made after a job interview), abruptly ending the whole "where will Alex go to college next year" storyline halfway through the season (of course it's possible if this happens it may not be the end of the story).
Anyway, we'll find out later tonight what happened.
