"Static In My Attic From Channel Z"

So, in case you were wondering why the heck there is a test pattern in the spot where I normally put a screen capture of Alex, well, it's because DirecTV and the owners of my local ABC affiliate (WCVB) are being a bunch of chowderheads:

So for now, unless this dispute over transmission fees gets settled before Wednesday night, I won't be able to watch this week's new episode right away (I can't get the signal over the air reliably - even on a good day the picture and sound are poor).

It's not the end of the world, though - I can still watch the episode when it gets added to iTunes and Amazon's TV service, so I'll probably end up watching sometime Thursday or Friday.  So any recaps would be delayed until then.  It probably won't be that big a deal this week with not much going on for Alex, but if it goes on beyond that (and it probably will - a similar dispute last summer knocked two of my local channels off  DirecTV for almost a month)...

Actually after next week's episode it probably won't matter for a while, which brings me to more bad news:  They're re-running the Halloween episode on the 18th, which is bad news on at least two levels (another re-run already - it will probably now be February before the next new episode after next week, and I believe the other Wednesday shows will have new episodes that week, which pretty much would confirm only 22 episodes again this season), and possibly a third (they usually don't repeat holiday themed episodes until the following season - another possible foreshadowing of things not to come?)

Finally, one last piece of news: Some more episode titles have been released, and one replaces "Sushi Chefs":

Episode 12: Do It Yourself
Episode 13: Basketball!
Episode 14: Heavy Is The Head
Episode 15: Do You Believe In Magic (previously announced)

Of those, maybe "Heavy Is The Head" sounds the most promising for an serious Alex story, but it may also instead allude to more tribulations for Luke in his Senior Class President role.

Enjoying 2017 yet?  I'm not.
