“On The Sixth Day Of Christmas” (“The Last Christmas” Recap)

The bottom line: Alex did not deserve to be threatened by Gloria.

In fact, if I was Alex, I would have cut Gloria off right then and there and gave her hell for even thinking about working for one of her father's competitors and possibly ruin his life (which could also trickle down to Alex herself).   And I would have told Phil about it long before the family Christmas dinner.

And I'm doubly mad that Gloria didn't apologize to Alex after straightening things out with Phil.

In an episode where a lot went wrong in general, poor Alex was really an innocent bystander IMO.

Finally, Alex's revelation that she might be willing to transfer to New York as part of her new job would have been a lot more intriguing if I thought there was a realistic chance it could lead to a spin-off show for her.

So, yes, this one turned out to be a major disappointment – easily the worst of the six Christmas episodes, especially as far as Alex is concerned (yes, being threatened by a family member to keep a secret is worse than almost dying keeping in another family member's secrets).

Alex's Line Of The Night: ”Disloyalty? Really! Dad, I caught Gloria interviewing for a job with another realtor.”  Again, it was about time Alex outed Gloria for her transgression.

And with that it's holiday break time. Hopefully none of you have as clustered a family gathering as we saw last night.
